The Heywood Healthcare Internship Program (HHIP) provides the opportunity to gain valuable experience to students whose career interests are in healthcare.
Internship opportunities in Cardiology, Physical Therapy, Nutrition, Women’s Health, Human Resources and more are all designed to encourage students to consider careers in science, medicine and public health.
Placement for clinical rotations, internships and other observation experiences must be secured by the student or school before starting the on boarding process. Additionally, we encourage students to visit our careers page for additional internship opportunities.
Students must be cleared by Human Resources and Employee Health before they’re able to start. Once placement has been confirmed by the department, the student should complete the Heywood Healthcare internship form and send it to Human Resources to begin the onboarding process.
Human Resources will be responsible for ensuring that the following requirements have been met:
- Internship Form
- Satisfactory background check (completed within the past 6 months)
- Annual Mandatory Education & Heywood Healthcare policies
- Affiliation agreement
Clearance from Employee Health’s Office is mandatory for all students. This is to ensure the highest level of safety for our patients and staff. Medical records can be emailed directly to [email protected]. Documentation of the following must be provided and verified by Employee Health.
- Hep B
- Recent Physical (within one year)
- Updated Flu Vaccine
- 1 PPD in the last yr and 1 PPD in the last 6 months - so a total of 2 PPDs OR a negative TB Gold blood test within the last 6 months
- Proof of COVID-19 Vaccine
*Employee Health clearance is not required for students wishing to observe for one day unless the observation will be in the Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit, Operating Room or Obstetrics. Human Resource clearance is required for all students.
