Exciting New Program at Heywood Rehabilitation
We are thrilled to share that we are developing a new Work Hardening, Strength and Conditioning program at Heywood Rehabilitation. This program is designed specifically for individuals who have been injured on the job, helping them return to work safely, quickly, and with a better understanding of proper ergonomics and lifting mechanics.

What Sets Work Conditioning Apart?
Work conditioning is distinct from traditional physical therapy in several key ways. While traditional physical therapy primarily focuses on acute injury recovery, work conditioning is geared towards preparing individuals for the demands of their job. This program emphasizes repetitive and labor-intensive tasks that closely mimic real work conditions, ensuring that participants are fully prepared to meet the physical requirements of their roles upon returning to work.

Introducing Our Work Hardening Program at Heywood Rehabilitation
We are excited to announce the development of a new Work Hardening and Strength and Conditioning program at Heywood Rehabilitation. This program is designed to enhance an individual’s functional capacity, focusing on essential physical tasks required in the workplace, such as lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.

Why Work Hardening?
For individuals recovering from injuries or surgeries, work hardening is a critical step in the rehabilitation process. The longer a person is off work due to injury, the more challenging it becomes to return to work. Our program aims to prevent deconditioning by initiating a functional work conditioning regimen as soon as possible after an acute injury. This early intervention helps ensure a smoother and quicker transition back to work.

Work Hardening Graph

This graph shows that the likelihood of returning to work goes down the longer the person is off work. If the person is not back by: 20 days, the chance of getting back to work is 70%, at 45 days, the chance of returning to work is 50%, and at 70 days, the chance of getting back to work is 35%.
