Pete's Tire Barn Pledges $7,500 to Heywood Healthcare's Quabbin Retreat

September 15, 2017

Pete's Tire Barn of Gardner has pledged $7,500 to the Heywood Healthcare 'Fulfilling Our Promise' Capital Campaign, a community-responsive, multi-pronged fundraising initiative, designed to ensure that the healthcare needs of the community will be met now and in the future.

This pledge will support the continued renovations of the Quabbin Retreat, an 86-bed facility located in Petersham that will provide outpatient, residential and inpatient services for adults and adolescents struggling with behavioral health and substance abuse problems.

The Quabbin Retreat offers a continuity of substance abuse and mental healthcare and will be completed in three phases. Phase One entails The Dana Day Treatment Center, featuring intensive outpatient services and an adult residential substance abuse center. The Dana Day Treatment Center is now open and accepting patients, while the adult residential program is slated to open in spring of 2018. Phase Two of this project will encompass a residential adolescent substance abuse treatment program while Phase Three will include an inpatient detox center.

The Quabbin Retreat will also offer a wide array of services to augment treatment and support recovery, including group-based supportive therapies, life skills training, family education and support and vocational assistance.

"We know from the statistics made available to us, and in our experiences with some of our own employees over the years that rural areas tend to suffer limited access to mental health and drug abuse treatment. We feel it is our moral responsibility as an area employer, and as human beings, to support Heywood Healthcare and the Quabbin Retreat in their efforts to bring these much-needed services to our community and to support our area residents in getting the treatment they need," shared Amy Sanden, Public Relations, Pete's Tire Barns, Inc. "We also believe that having this retreat so close to home will allow patients more consistent access to family and friends which has proven to be a major factor in the success of their recovery."

"The generous support of local companies like Pete's Tire Barn helps us continue our quest to meet the healthcare needs of our community. The numbers don't lie - many in our region are seeking care for behavioral health and substance abuse issues, and Heywood Healthcare is proud to be leading the way to locally-grown solutions" said Dawn Casavant, Executive Vice President of the Heywood Healthcare Charitable Foundation.
