Partial Hospitalization Program

For outpatient needs, Heywood Hospital offers a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP, full-day), and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP, half-day) levels of care via telehealth or in person. Behavioral health providers, PCP's, school adjustment counselors, DCF workers, probation officers and others in a professional capacity can refer patients to either of our programs.

Within each program patients receive the following services:

The Partial Hospitalization Program provides:

  • Six daily sessions of group therapy
  • Clinical case management and brief intervention
  • Aftercare planning (including the completion of any FMLA paperwork)
  • Integrated psychiatry for medication evaluation and management

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

  • Three daily sessions of group therapy
  • Clinical case management and brief intervention
  • Aftercare planning (including the completion of any FMLA paperwork)
  • Access to psychiatry consultation

These programs can act as a step down for individuals leaving an inpatient setting or as an early intervention to avoid potential hospitalization. The program offers support for those dealing with a large range of psychiatric disorders including, but not limited to depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, PTSD and co-occurring disorders.

Programs operate Monday through Friday, except for holidays.
