
Dr. Kavita Babu serves as Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Medical Affairs at Heywood Healthcare, where she provides strategic and clinical leadership to advance high-quality, patient-centered care across the organization.
A highly respected physician executive and emergency medicine leader, Dr. Babu brings more than 20 years of experience spanning clinical care, healthcare operations, and executive leadership. She has led numerous initiatives focused on quality improvement, patient safety, physician engagement, and operational excellence, while also playing a key role in expanding substance use disorder services and strengthening community-based care delivery.
Known for her collaborative and multidisciplinary approach, Dr. Babu has worked closely with medical staff, nursing, pharmacy, emergency medical services, and executive teams to enhance care delivery, improve access, and optimize clinical performance. She remains an active practicing emergency physician and is widely recognized for her expertise in addiction medicine, medical toxicology, clinical informatics, and healthcare operations.
Dr. Babu earned her Doctor of Medicine from Brown Medical School after completing her undergraduate studies in Biology at Brown University. She completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at Brown and a fellowship in Medical Toxicology at the University of Massachusetts. She also holds an MBA from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
