12th Annual Heywood Healthy Harvest 5K Supporting Mental Health

Gardner, MA, October 26, 2024 – Energy, enthusiasm, and community spirit were in full swing as the Heywood Healthcare staff and local residents came together for the 12th Annual Heywood Healthcare Healthy Harvest “Healing Our Healers” 5K and Employee Health and Vendor Fair, on Saturday, October 26th. This year’s event raised over $6000 in support of Heywood Healthcare’s Caring for Colleagues and Employee Wellness Programs thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and the more than 150 participants!

The event was made possible through the generous support of sponsors, including t-shirt sponsor, ACT - Advanced Cable Ties, INC., Coverys, The Coutu Family, The Nottleson Family, and Tully Walk-In Care Center. In-kind contributions from Cibo Vita, Coutu General Contracting, Kelli Reeves, Massage Therapist, Marylee Harrington, RYT2000, Gardner High School Football Team, Gardner DPW, Masters of Music DJ Services, the Red Apple Farm, and the Montachusett Suicide Prevention Task Force who served over 150 egg sandwiches.

The program featured a heartfelt tribute to Reverend David Cote, former fire chaplain and lifelong friend and volunteer of Heywood Healthcare. Following the remembrance, Haylee Girouard delivered a powerful rendition of the National Anthem, setting an inspiring tone for the event.

"We are grateful for the overwhelming community support and the dedication of our sponsors, participants, and volunteers. The proceeds will provide essential support for our dedicated employees, ensuring they have resources in times of need and opportunities to prioritize their own health and well-being." said Dawn Casavant, Vice President of Strategy and External Affairs at Heywood Healthcare.

The Heywood Healthcare Employee Wellness Committee was thrilled to host the Community Health and Vendor Fair for this year’s event, featuring 15 vendors showcasing a variety of products and services. This fair was an excellent opportunity to allow attendees to discover local businesses and connect with the community.

In addition to the Community Health and Vendor Fair, we were pleased to offer complimentary flu shots provided by MPHN. This initiative underscores our commitment to promoting health and wellness among our attendees.
