Acting Chief Nursing Officer & Director, Psychiatric Services
Nora Salovardos serves as Acting Chief Nursing Officer and Director of Psychiatric Services at Heywood Hospital, combining her decades of clinical experience with a passion to lead. She is a focused and creative nurse with over 33 years experience in varied health care settings providing direct health care, supervision, teaching and managerial services in long term, acute medical and psychiatric settings.
As Acting Chief Nursing Officer, Salovardos provides leadership for the Division of Nursing, guiding her staff to develop and manage their departments while providing the highest quality, compassionate care. She brings a wealth of experience in operations, budgets, systems development, quality improvement, regulatory compliance and customer service to her role. She maintains her longstanding role of Director of Psychiatric Services, responsible for the creation, leadership and growth of the continuum of behavioral health programming for three campuses under Heywood Healthcare.
She is credited with developing and implementing Heywood’s Crisis Avoidance Training Program, Psychiatric Access to Care initiatives, Restraint Reduction initiatives and Emergency Department Psychiatric Navigator Program as well as the Hospital’s Electronic Medication Administration Record and Computerized Physician Order Entry systems.
Prior to assuming the role of Chief Nursing Officer, Ms. Salovardos has served as Associate Chief Nursing Officer, Interim Director Maternal Child Services, Director of Inpatient Services, Interim VP of Patient Care Services, Director of Medical Surgical Services, Nurse Manager, Clinical Coordinator and Charge Nurse. Before joining the Heywood clinical team, she worked as a charge nurse at Eastwood Pines Nursing Home in Gardner.
Ms. Salovardos received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Fitchburg State College and holds a Masters of Science in Nursing. She established and Co-Chairs the Montachusett Suicide Prevention Task Force, is an active member of the Massachusetts Hospital Association Clinical Advisory Council Board and a former Organization of Nurse Leaders Central Mass and Metro West Board Member.
