Michael R. Abbatiello, MPPM, CPA
Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer
Michael R. Abbatiello, MPPM, CPA recently joined our organization as Vice President of Finance, and Chief Financial Officer of Heywood Healthcare, bringing over 30 years of healthcare finance experience. His reputation precedes him as a driver of continuous improvement, and an experienced strategist for healthcare operations.
In his past endeavors, Mr. Abbatiello has been an industrious executive, responsible for leading six successful mergers and acquisitions over the last 15 years, with his most recent organization experiencing a five-fold revenue growth over the last 10 years. He enhances the cultivation of a team dynamic to allow his members to be effective and efficient, as well as ensuring work produced by his team is reliable for effective decision making. Mr. Abbatiello has first-hand knowledge on how investing in customer experience positively impacts the outcome of a business, and will undoubtedly be a model for our continuing HEART culture here at Heywood Healthcare.
Prior to joining Heywood Healthcare, he served multiple roles at MaineHealth’s Behavioral Healthcare Corporation, including Senior Vice President of Operations and Finance. He also served as Senior Vice President of Operations and CFO of Sweetser, a company providing behavioral healthcare services in Maine, as well as Director of Finance at Winthrop University Hospital and St. Barnabas Hospital in New York. During his tenancy in New York, he also served as an auditor for Ernst & Young’s Healthcare Division, and President & CEO of Abbatiello Counseling, a healthcare consulting group.
Mr. Abbatiello holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Long Island University, a Master of Public Policy and Organizational Management from the Muskie School of Public Service. He is affiliated with the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Maine State Society of CPAs. We are very excited to see what Mike’s advanced leadership and technical skills will bring to our healthcare system.
