5 Ways to Reduce Fat in Your Diet
1. Reduce visible fat.
- Limit amount of butter, margarine, mayonnaise, peanut butter added to foods.
- Reduce amount of gravies, sauces and creamed foods
2. Select leaner cuts of meat and trim of excess fat.
- Boil, broil or bake. Don't fry
3. Substitute low-fat or non-fat milk for whole milk.
- Purchase low-fat yogurt and low-fat cheese
4. Reduce fat in recipes.
- Fat used in recipes can often be cut in half
5. Watch the "fast foods"
- Larger burgers, fried chicken, French fries and hot dogs are high in fat
