When you're shopping stop and take regular rest periods and keep meal schedules as normal as possible. Children can not go long periods without rest and adequate food.
Choose Fast Foods Wisely - a hamburger is better than a double cheeseburger. A baked potato instead of French fries, and milk instead of soft drinks.
Allow children cookies and candies in moderation. Keep them out of sight and only bring them out for special occasions.
Provide healthier snacks - cheese and crackers, fresh fruit and vegetable trays with healthy dips.
Keep children involved with the holiday season. If they feel left out and need attention they may "act out" at the table.
