Winchendon Health Center Welcomes Two New Physicians and New Patients
October 20, 2012
Kavita Kayathi, MD Kevin Zhang, MD, PhD
The Winchendon Health Center (WHC) is now welcoming two new physicians to their family-based medical practice. Doctors Kavitha Kayathi, MD, and Qiwei (Kevin) Zhang, MD, PhD, joined the WHC team in late July and are now accepting new patients. There they will be joining fellow doctors John Harrington, MD, David Havlin, MD, Eliot Nottleson, PA, and Megan Tracy, NP-C to cater to the primary care needs of the community. The WHC clinical team also includes five primary care nurses with over 70 years of experience among them.
While their specialties differ, the quality of care available at the health center is consistently exceptional. Dr. Kayathi is an American Academy of Family Physicians certified doctor who specializes in geriatric medicine, breastfeeding and prenatal infections in women. While earning her doctorate of medicine from Osmania Medical College in India, Kavitha researched these topics in depth. Dr. Kavitha’s past work experience includes working as a research assistant for the Department of Geriatrics at Brown University and a residency at the Mid-Hudson Family Medicine Practice.
Dr. Zhang is a graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine where he earned a PhD in Medical Pharmacology. At the university, Kevin completed a medical research fellowship in Dermatology, and his special interests range from sports medicine, skin care, to school-based health programs. Kevin has received numerous academic achievement awards including those for dermatology, pharmacology, and gene expression.
In welcoming Dr. Zhang and Dr. Kayathi to the WHC community, the health center will be adding new patients, and new expertise to the practice. Located at 55 Hospital Drive in Winchendon, the former location of the historic Winchendon Hospital, WHC has been providing the community with family-based primary care for over 30 years. While they are adding new physicians to the WHC team, their philosophy will remain the same. Winchendon Health Center will always be dedicated to providing personal, comprehensive primary care to the entire family. "We believe that patient care means not only caring for patients, but caring about patients," says WHC Director Ellen Goderre.
The Winchendon Health Center is open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. To contact about new patient registration, call 978-297-2311 weekdays between 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
