Heywood Streamlines Registration Process

Heywood Hospital Streamlines Patient Registration Process:

PHONE and GO to Begin on June 1, 2011

Beginning June 1, 2011, the Patient Registration Department at Heywood Hospital is offering a new service that will streamline the registration process for patients needing outpatient testing and make it faster and easier. The new service, Phone and Go, is the result of a collaborative effort between the Registration, Lab and Radiology departments, according to Director of Patient Financial Services Terry Hibbert.

"Currently, patients who have unscheduled visits are required to register at the Registration Offices prior to arriving at the respective outpatient department. Due to the unpredictability of the number of patients, there can be delays and longer wait times," said Hibbert.

The Phone and Go program allows patients who have received doctor orders for any unscheduled services (Laboratory-including standing orders, Blood Work, Routine X- Rays and EKG) to pre- register the day before by phone and save them time.

If there are no changes to the patient’s demographic information or insurance coverage, and the orders are on file in Registration, the patient will be instructed to go directly to the outpatient department for their tests. Hibbert noted that walk-in patients, who are unable to call before they arrive, can still expect to receive an efficient registration process.

Patient Registration and physician offices will be distributing a Phone and Go card with an attached magnet that contains the pre-registration number for patients who wish to participate.

"We are very excited about this new service and hope that it will enhance our patient care experience," said Hibbert.

She noted that many patients who may come to the Hospital for scheduled procedures are already being pre-registered in advance. This service will increase the number of patients who can telephone ahead and by-pass the need to go to Patient Registration at all.
