Health Sciences Library
Heywood Hospital Health Sciences Library serves the information and research needs of the entire hospital community including the medical, nursing and allied health staff. The library also serves patients, students and members of the local community. We are active participants in the National Network of Libraries of Medicine as well as other state and regional consortia for resource sharing.
Library Hours: Heywood Hospital Health Sciences Library is open Monday–Friday from 8:00am–2:00pm. Hours are subject to change due to holidays, etc. Patients and community members are encouraged to call ahead to schedule an appointment for detailed references assistance.
Location: The Library is located on the ground floor right next to the cafeteria.
Staff: The Library is staffed by Gayle Kadlik, Library Assistant/CME Coordinator and several volunteers.

Books and Journals: The library has approximately 500 medical, nursing and consumer texts; 50 medical and nursing print journals; and several consumer magazines.
Audio/Visual and Other Materials: Holdings includes over 100 health–related videos, CD's and DVD's and a variety of patient information materials.

- American Heart Association
Access and Circulation of Materials: Medical and hospital staff, patients, students and local residents may have access to references materials during open hours. In addition, hospital physicians and department managers have 24 hour access.
Circulation of non–references material is granted to those patrons who file a patron registration form with the library.
Borrowing Guidelines: Generally, reference material and current issues of journals are for in–house use only. Non–reference books may be borrowed for a two week period. Back issues of journals and audio/visual items may be borrowed for a one week period.
Above items may be renewed once providing there is no hold on the item.
Research Assistance: Ready reference, literature searches and interlibrary loan services are available for library patrons. Current awareness services are available for medical and managerial staff.
