The Montachusett Suicide Prevention Task Force is hosting its 5th Annual ‘Ride of Your Life’, a fundraiser to support suicide prevention and education.
Held on Sunday, August 20th, the ‘Ride of Your Life’ features a three hour motorcycle ride through North Central Massachusetts with stops at local motorcycle shops along the way. Ride registration begins at 8 am at Monty Tech High School, 1050 Westminster Street in Fitchburg, with kickstands up at 9:30 am. There is a $25 fee for motorcycle riders and a $15 fee for passengers, which includes lunch, maps, entertainment and on-route refreshments. Walkers and runners can register for $10, which also includes lunch and refreshments. A BBQ lunch will be held at 11:30 am at Monty Tech and is open to the public. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids under 12.
The event will also feature a variety of family friendly activities from 10 am until 2 pm including the Roaming Railroad, a trackless train built to comfortably fit both adults and kids, driven by Conductor Dan, and MYCHIP (Masonic Youth Child Identification Program). This free program provides a video CD/VCD that could quickly be distributed to media, fingerprinting, tooth prints and cheek swab (for DNA material).
Another new addition for this year’s event is a job fair hosted by the North Central Mass Career Center. Over 30 local employers will be on-site to take applications from 10 am until 2 pm.
The event also features door prizes, raffles, health clinics and information about the Monatachusett Suicide Prevention Task Force and its suicide prevention initiatives.
