April 18, 2017

Heywood Hospital physicians, leaders and clinicians will gather later this spring to celebrate the Center of Distinction Award, which was given to The Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine at Heywood Hospital by Healogics, Inc., the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. The Center achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for twelve consecutive months, including patient satisfaction higher than 92 percent, a minimum wound healing rate of at least 91 percent within 30 median days to heal, and other quality outcomes. There were more than 821 centers eligible nationally for the Center of Distinction Award; Heywood was 1 of only 10 hospitals in Massachusetts to achieve this award.

“We are thrilled that the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine at Heywood Hospital is receiving this award," stated Win Brown, President & CEO of Heywood Healthcare. "Patient satisfaction is always our top priority and it is an honor to be one of only 10 hospitals in Massachusetts recognized with this distinction. I applaud the entire Wound Care Center staff for their dedication to patient satisfaction and quality care.”

The Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine at Heywood Hospital is a member of the Healogics Network of more than 821 Centers, and provides access to benchmarking data and proven experience treating more than two million chronic wounds. Heywood Hospital’s Wound Care Center offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from venous ulcers, diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time. Some advanced treatments include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, negative pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered skin substitutes, biological and biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies.

“We are both honored and humbled to have our Wound Center recognized with this award. Our Staff of physicians, nurses, and administrators have worked hard to provide state-of-the-art, evidence-based, compassionate wound care for our patients.” Dr. Konstantino Avradopolous, Wound Care Center physician shared, “Our ongoing mission is to maintain and surpass these standards and to continue to be a source of clinical excellence for our community.”
